Why I love sharing my process….
Choosing someone to come into your home and photograph your family is personal. You want to know you’ll feel comfortable, supported, and that the end result will look and feel like you.
That’s why I love being transparent about how I work. Every step of my process is designed to make your family feel at ease - so you can relax into the moment, and I can capture the little pieces of real life you’ll want to remember forever.
Step 1: Before the session
It all begins when you enquire through my website. I’ll reply via email, and together we choose a day and time that suits your family’s rhythm (naps, feeds, school runs - they all matter!).
Once your deposit and contract are sorted, you’ll fill out a questionnaire so I can get to know you better: your kids’ personalities, any sentimental spots in your home, and what matters most to you.
A week before your session, I send a pre-shoot guide to help you feel totally prepared. This includes information from a wardrobe guide to how to get your home ready. You can send outfit ideas to me over DMs, or we can choose on the day from your wardrobe - one of the perks of an at-home session!
Step 2: During the session
When I arrive, we don’t jump straight into photos. We start with a chat - especially if little ones are involved. I want them to feel like I’m a friend, not a stranger pointing a camera their way.
The kids usually take the lead by giving me a tour of the house. As they show me their favourite corners, I’m also looking for the best light, windows, soft pockets of brightness, maybe some fun shadows if the sun is out.
Then my camera comes out slowly, and we flow into the session at your child’s pace.
No stiff posing. No expectations.
We pause for snacks, cuddles, toilet breaks - whatever is needed.
I even let your child play with my camera and take some photos so they can get comfortable with a big black camera.
Sessions wrapped around real life allow me to capture what makes your family your family - the giggles, the chaos, the quiet moments too. And the moment a little one has had enough? That’s our cue that the session is complete.
Step 3: After the session
Because I know how excited you’ll be, I send a little sneak peek within 1–2 days. Something to swoon over while you wait for the full gallery!
Within two weeks, you’ll receive a secure online gallery filled with candid, heartfelt images that look like the people you love, true-to-colour and naturally edited, never overly retouched.
You can download, share, and relive them over and over again. And if you’d love prints or albums to hold in your hands, I can help with that too.
